  • Orioles' Austin Hays: Four hits in victory

Hays went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBI and one run scored in Thursday's 6-1 win over Toronto.

Hays got the scoring started in the second inning with an RBI single off Kevin Gausman and added an RBI double off Thomas Hatch to extend the lead in the ninth. The 28-year-old outfielder had been scuffling coming into this game, going just 1-for-21 with zero RBI across his previous six games.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Four hits in win

Mountcastle went 4-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 6-1 victory over Toronto.

Mountcastle has been swinging a hot bat with multiple hits in four consecutive contests. The first baseman is now hitting a robust .449 (22-for-49) in 17 games since the All-Star break, strengthening his case for continued playing time in the heart of the order for Baltimore.

  • Orioles' Jack Flaherty: Earns win in O's debut

Flaherty (8-6) earned the win Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over six innings in a 6-1 win over the Blue Jays. He struck out eight.

After allowing a single and a walk to start the ballgame, Flaherty settled in, retiring 15 consecutive Blue Jays in dominant fashion. His only blemish came on an RBI single by Vladimir Guerrero in the sixth. The recently acquired 27-year-old has now earned wins in five of his last seven outings despite a 4.00 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 36 innings during that span. Flaherty is tentatively scheduled to face Houston in his next start.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: On bench again Thursday

Cowser remains out of the lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Cowser is slashing just .098/.254/.118 through his first 63 major-league plate appearances and hasn't appeared in the Orioles' starting lineup since Monday. Austin Hays, Ryan McKenna and Ryan O'Hearn are starting across the outfield in Thursday's series finale at Toronto.

  • Orioles' Keegan Akin: Rehab shifts to Triple-A

Akin (back) joined up with Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday to continue his minor-league rehab assignment, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Akin surrendered three earned runs in just one inning of work Monday in his rehab debut in the Florida Complex League, but he is discomfort-free following a month-long absence from live competition to heal a lower-back injury. The 28-year-old left-hander could return to Baltimore's bullpen mix by early next week.

  • Orioles' Mychal Givens: Moves rehab to Triple-A

Givens (shoulder) moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Givens tallied two strikeouts over a scoreless inning in his rehab debut earlier this week in the Florida Complex League and is now just one step away from becoming an option again for the Orioles' bullpen. He's been on the shelf since early June due to nagging right shoulder discomfort.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: On base four times Wednesday

Mountcastle went 2-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays.

The 26-year-old has reeled off three straight multi-hit performances against Toronto, and while he didn't deliver any extra-base hits this time, he did supplement his singles with his third steal of the season. Mountcastle is slashing .400/.462/.689 in 16 games since the All-Star break with seven doubles, two homers, eight RBI and 10 runs, and he's pushing his way back into a consistent starting spot even on an O's roster stuffed full of top prospects.

  • Orioles' Grayson Rodriguez: Stuck with tough loss against Jays

Rodriguez (2-3) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on two hits and two walks over 5.2 innings as the Orioles fell 4-1 to the Blue Jays. He struck out six.

The 23-year-old right-hander was stingy through five innings and nearly delivered his second straight quality start, but after walking two batters with two outs in the sixth, he got the hook and had to watch as Shintaro Fujinami loaded the bases on another free pass before plunking consecutive Toronto batters, with both runs going on Rodriguez's ledger. Since returning to the big-league rotation after the All-Star break, Rodriguez has posted a 3.57 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB through 22.2 innings. He'll look for a better result in his next start, likely to come at home early next week against the Astros.

  • Orioles' Bryan Baker: Optioned to Norfolk

Baker has posted a steady 3.64 ERA and 51:24 K:BB through 42 innings of relief this season with the Orioles and should return to their bullpen mix at some point down the stretch.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Climbs to Double-A

The Orioles promoted Beavers from High-A Aberdeen to Double-A Bowie on Wednesday.

Beavers, the 33rd overall pick in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, earned the move to the Eastern League after posting an .832 OPS while walking in 13.9 percent of his plate appearances and stealing 22 bases in 28 attempts. The 21-year-old hit only nine home runs in his 85 games at Aberdeen, but at 6-foot-4, he possesses the sort of frame to add power as he matures.
