  • Giants' Camilo Doval: Escapes with 33rd save

Doval picked up the save in Thursday's 1-0 win over Arizona. He allowed two hits while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Doval worked around a pair of singles, inducing a Joc Pederson flyout to end the threat and earn his major-league leading 33rd save. After blowing a save against Boston on July 29, the 26-year-old flamethrower has turned in four consecutive scoreless appearances, allowing three hits while striking out five and issuing zero walks across four innings during that stretch.

  • Giants' Tristan Beck: Earns win in bulk relief

Beck (3-0) earned the win in Thursday's 1-0 victory over the Diamondbacks. He allowed two hits without walking a batter while striking out three over four scoreless innings.

Beck turned in a solid bulk-relief outing, blanking the Arizona offense for four innings after Scott Alexander worked as the opener for San Francisco. The 27-year-old Beck, a rookie, has pitched well in his last six appearances for the big-league club, posting a sterling 0.60 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB across 11.1 innings during that span.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Out of lineup Thursday

Crawford is out of the lineup Thursday versus the Diamondbacks.

Casey Schmitt is playing shortstop and batting ninth as Isan Diaz covers second base and hits eighth. Crawford has enjoyed a productive week so far, but he's slashing just .215/.286/.355 through 239 total plate appearances this year at age 36.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Three-hit effort in win

Flores went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Flores has hit safely in his last six games, and he has multiple hits in three of those contests. The infielder got the nod at designated hitter with Joc Pederson taking a start in left field Wednesday, though the Giants' outfield remains unpredictable on a game-by-game basis. Flores has been hot lately, which may force manager Gabe Kapler to make room for him in the lineup. Flores is at a .305/.360/.545 slash line with 14 home runs, 35 RBI, 34 runs scored and 17 doubles through 79 contests overall.

  • Giants' Camilo Doval: Converts 32nd save

Doval pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Doval was efficient, throwing eight pitches (six strikes) in the outing. He's tossed three scoreless innings over the last four days, which brings into question his availability for a potential save situation in Thursday's day game. Doval is 32-for-35 in save chances with a 2.52 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 67:19 K:BB through 50 innings as one of the top closers in the majors.

  • Giants' Logan Webb: Evens record Wednesday

Webb (9-9) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five over seven innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Diamondbacks.

Webb has generally done the Giants a lot of favors lately, covering at least seven innings in four of his last five starts as the team continues to get by with bullpen days frequently. He struggled early in this contest, giving up a pair of runs in the first inning before settling down. Webb is now at a 3.45 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 145:25 K:BB through 148.2 innings over 23 starts this season. He's projected for a road start versus the Angels next week.

  • Giants' Scott Alexander: Opening Thursday

Alexander will start Thursday's game against Arizona, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Alexander has fallen into a somewhat regular role as an opener recently, as Thursday will mark his third start since July 24. The 34-year-old lefty holds a solid 3.13 ERA and 0.98 WHIP through 31.2 innings on the year but will likely only remain on the mound for an inning or two.

  • Giants' AJ Pollock: Hitless in San Francisco debut

Pollock went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Pollock had a minimal stay on the injured list with a hamstring strain, allowing him to promptly make his Giants debut after he was traded from the Mariners on Monday. The outfielder was batting just .173 over 49 contests with Seattle, and his Giants career is off to a humble start. Given manager Gabe Kapler's preferences for platoons, the righty-hitting Pollock shouldn't be expected to start very often against right-handed pitchers.

  • Giants' LaMonte Wade: Clubs 10th homer

Wade went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Wade had gone 0-for-9 with two walks over his previous three games before getting back on track Tuesday. His seventh-inning solo shot ended up being the difference in the Giants' win, and it was his 10th homer of the year. The first baseman is up to a .267/.398/.421 slash line with 29 RBI, 45 runs scored and two stolen bases over 93 contests. He continues to occupy the leadoff spot versus right-handed pitchers.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Swats sixth homer

Crawford went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Crawford has gone 4-for-12 with three RBI over three games since he returned from a knee injury that sent him to the injured list. The shortstop has a .214/.286/.348 slash line with six homers, 29 RBI, 24 runs scored and three stolen bases over 68 contests this season. With Marco Luciano back at Triple-A Sacramento, Crawford should retain his spot as the Giants' primary shortstop at least until Thairo Estrada (hand) is activated.

  • Giants' Ryan Walker: Spares bullpen Tuesday

Walker (4-0) allowed two hits over 2.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Diamondbacks. He did not strike out or walk a batter.

After three straight bullpen games, including one in which Walker was the opener (Saturday), he was able to spare his fellow relievers with a strong outing. He's given up just two runs over his last 15.1 innings while posting a 14:1 K:BB in that span. Walker is at a 2.35 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB through 38.1 innings over 26 appearances (seven starts) this season. He'll likely continue to be an option to open bullpen games going forward, which drastically limits his ability to collect wins.

  • Giants' Sean Manaea: Nabs first save

Manaea retired both batters he faced to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Manaea got a flyout and a pickoff to close out this contest for his first career save at any level of affiliated ball. The southpaw posted a mediocre 4.91 ERA over 18.1 innings across six appearances in July. He remains in a bulk-relief role as the Giants continue to use bullpen games to patch the holes in their rotation. Manaea has a 5.43 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 85:27 K:BB through 71.1 innings over 25 appearances (six starts) this year.

  • Giants' Alex Cobb: Works six innings Tuesday

Cobb allowed three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four over six innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Cobb was ill Monday, so he was pushed back a day in the rotation. He threw 84 pitches (53 strikes) Tuesday before turning the ball over to Ryan Walker. All three runs against Cobb came on solo home runs, making Tuesday the second time all year he's given up multiple homers. He's at a 3.05 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 104:29 K:BB through 112 innings over 20 starts this season. The right-hander is projected for a road start versus the Angels next week.

  • Giants' Austin Slater: Takes seat Tuesday

Slater isn't in the Giants' lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Slater is just 2-for-10 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored across his last five games and will be held out of the lineup for the second straight game Tuesday. AJ Pollock will fill in as San Francisco's left fielder and bat ninth.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Sits down Tuesday

Bailey isn't in the Giants' lineup Tuesday against Arizona, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

After a 2-for-5 performance during Monday's series opener, Bailey will catch a breather Tuesday. Blake Sabol will take over behind the plate and bat fifth while Bailey rests.
