  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Receives one-year contract

Swayman was awarded a one-year, $3.475 million contract with Boston on Tuesday by an independent arbitrator, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Swayman posted a 24-6-4 record last season with four shutouts, a 2.27 GAA and a .920 save percentage over 37 appearances. He shared the crease with 2023 Vezina Trophy winner Linus Ullmark, which will likely be the case again next campaign. The goaltending duo of the Bruins won the William M. Jennings Trophy after allowing a league-low 177 goals against during the 2022-23 regular season.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Loses Game 7 heartbreaker in OT

Swayman stopped 27 shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Panthers in Game 7 of the Bruins' first-round series. Getting his first start of the postseason, Swayman fell behind 2-0 early in the second period, but the netminder regained his focus and saw Boston roar back to take a 3-2 lead in the third, only for things to fall apart in stunning fashion for the Presidents' Trophy winners. Swayman took a back seat to Linus Ullmark this year but still posted strong numbers (2.37 GAA and .920 save percentage) over 37 regular-season appearances. That arrangement figures to continue in 2023-24. Swayman will need a new contract as a restricted free agent this summer.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Guarding cage Sunday

Swayman will face the Panthers at home for Sunday's Game 7 matchup, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Swayman will make his first start since April 13 after Linus Ullmark started the first six games of the series. After the Panthers won Games 5 and 6 to force a Game 7, the Bruins will turn to Swayman, who posted a 2.27 GAA and a .920 save percentage during the regular season. He struggled against Florida during the regular season, though, going 0-1-1 while allowing eight goals on 67 shots in two games.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Serving as backup Friday

Contrary to an earlier report, Swayman will serve as the backup goaltender in Friday's road game against Florida, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Swayman was initially expected to start Friday because Linus Ullmark (undisclosed) was questionable for the contest. However, Ullmark will instead play between the pipes for the third straight game. Swayman had a 24-6-4 record, 2.27 GAA and .920 save percentage in 37 outings during the regular season, so he's a solid alternative if the Bruins need him during their playoff run.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Expected to face Panthers in Game 3

Swayman is expected to start in Florida on Friday, Matt Porter of The Boston Globe reports. Swayman should make his first appearance of the playoffs after Linus Ullmark (undisclosed) was between the pipes for the first two games of the best-of-seven series. Swayman was 24-6-4 with a 2.27 GAA and .920 save percentage this season. Swayman was 0-1-1 against the Panthers this campaign, giving up eight goals on 67 shots.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Backing up

Swayman (illness) will dress as Linus Ullmark's backup Monday against the Panthers, Matt Porter of The Boston Globe reports. Swayman was considered a game-time decision due to his illness, but he's healthy enough to suit up on the bench. The Bruins will turn to Ullmark to begin their postseason run. Swayman finished the regular season with a strong 2.27 GAA and .920 save percentage through 37 games.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Game-time decision

Swayman (illness) is expected to be a game-time decision for Game 1 against Florida on Monday after taking part in Bruins' optional morning skate, WBZ Boston Sports reports. Swayman and Linus Ullmark (illness) are both under the weather, so a starter for Monday's series opener may not be determined until closer to game time. The Bruins recalled netminder Brandon Bussi from AHL Providence on Monday under emergency conditions.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Sits out practice

Swayman (illness) missed Sunday's practice, Conor Ryan of Boston.com reports. Swayman could still be available for Game 1 against Florida on Monday. If he is forced to sit out Boston's playoff opener, the team will need to bring up a goaltender to serve as Linus Ullmark's backup.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Eighth straight win

Swayman made 30 saves in a 5-4 win over Montreal on Thursday. It was Swayman's eighth straight win. He and Linus Ullmark won the William M. Jennings Trophy, awarded each season to the goalies who play at least 25 games for the team that allows the fewest goals in the NHL. Boston allowed just 174 goals (2.12 per game), with Swayman playing 37 games (33 starts) and Ullmark playing 49 (48 starts).

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Starting in Montreal

Swayman will defend the road goal during Thursday's matchup with Montreal, Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic reports. Swayman was solid in his last start Sunday versus the Flyers, stopping 34 of 37 shots en route to a 5-3 win. The 24-year-old goaltender will try to secure his 24th victory of the season in a favorable road matchup with a Canadiens squad that's 17-20-3 at home this year. Look for Swayman to take a back seat to Linus Ullmark (undisclosed) once the Bruins' first-round playoff series versus the Panthers gets underway.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Comes on in relief Tuesday

Swayman turned aside all six shots in he faced after replacing Linus Ullmark (undisclosed) midway through the third period of Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Capitals. Ullmark's removal is thought to be precautionary, but Swayman will still likely get the nod in Boston's final game of the season Thursday in Montreal. The 24-year-old has had a brilliant campaign even if he has been overshadowed by Ullmark, and since the beginning of March, Swayman's posted a 1.96 GAA and .934 save percentage to go along with an 8-2-0 record.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: On seven-game winning streak

Swayman stopped 34 of 37 shots in a 5-3 win over Philadelphia on Sunday. Swayman surrendered a goal in each period, but the Bruins provided him with enough offensive support to extend his personal winning streak to seven games. He's 23-6-4 with a 2.22 GAA and a .921 save percentage in 35 outings in 2022-23. Linus Ullmark (lower body) missed Sunday's contest with Brandon Bussi serving as the backup instead. Ullmark probably wouldn't have started against the Flyers anyway because he was in net Saturday, but the 29-year-old might get the nod over Swayman on Tuesday versus Washington, provided that he's healthy enough to play.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Facing Flyers

Swayman will start between the pipes in Sunday's road game versus Philadelphia, Conor Ryan of Boston.com reports. Swayman was excellent in his last start Thursday against the Maple Leafs, stopping 31 of 32 shots en route to a tidy 2-1 win. He'll try to secure a second straight victory in a favorable road matchup with a struggling Flyers team that's lost four straight games.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Strong play continues

Swayman made 31 saves Thursday in a 2-1 overtime win over Toronto. The only goal that got past Swayman was a fluke. Sam Lafferty scored into an open net from the right post after controlling Zach Aston-Reese's shot, which was going wide of the net. The Bruins (61-12-15) are now one win shy of tying the 1995-96 Red Wings and 2018-19 Lightning for the most wins in NHL history. Swayman has done his part -- he's 22-6-4 with a 2.20 GAA and .921 save percentage in 31 starts. Linus Ullmark will likely carry the Bruins in the postseason, but Swayman will be ready to take on whatever he's given.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Sharp in win over Habs

Swayman stopped 29 shots in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Canadiens. Both pucks that beat him came on Montreal power plays, as Swayman otherwise had an answer for everything fired his way. The 24-year-old netminder extended his win streak to three games but saw his shutout streak end at 164:33 late in the first period, and he boasts a 1.69 GAA and .940 save percentage through six starts in March. Swayman's play has been good enough lately that Boston coach Jim Montgomery hasn't ruled out using a goalie rotation in the playoffs rather than sticking with Vezina favorite Linus Ullmark.
