  • Colts' Darius Rush: Training camp debut

Rush (shoulder) is practicing Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Rush has been sidelined by a shoulder injury, but he'll finally get his chance to take the field for training camp. Selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the South Carolina product will be working to earn a depth role in the secondary.

  • Colts' Emil Ekiyor: Unable to compete

Ekiyor (undisclosed) is sitting out practice Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Ekiyor is working to make the Colts' roster as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama. As soon as he's healthy enough to compete, he should be back out on the field.

  • Colts' Jake Witt: Sitting out practice

Witt (hip) is not participating in practice Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Witt's injury severity is not yet known, but the 2023 seventh-round selection will now focus on his recovery. Once he returns to the field, he'll be working to earn a depth role on the Colts' offensive line.

  • Colts' Liam Anderson: Sitting with injury

Anderson will miss practice Thursday due to an arm injury, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Anderson is trying to earn a roster spot as an undrafted free agent out of Holy Cross. The 23-year-old will now work to get healthy so he can get back on the practice field.

  • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Continuing to recover

Blackmon continues to make progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.

Blackmon remains sidelined, but he's progressing well and doing a good job with his rehab, according to head coach Shane Steichen. The 24-year-old has been out of action since training camp started, but with Week 1 still over a month away, the Colts' projected starter at free safety still has several weeks to make a full recovery.

  • Colts' DeForest Buckner: Suffers injury

Buckner left practice early Thursday to tend to a foot injury, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

It's too soon to know the severity of the injury, but Bucker will remain sidelined until he returns to full health. The 29-year-old is an integral part of the Colts' defensive front, and there'd be little reason to rush him back. He'll now work to get healthy and return to the field.

  • Colts' Julius Brents: Dealing with new injury

Brents will not practice Thursday due to a hamstring injury, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Brents was limited to start camp due to offseason wrist surgery; however, it appears he's since suffered a hamstring injury that will keep him out of action for now. Selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Brents was expected to compete for a starting job at cornerback, but any significant missed time at camp could make it difficult for him to lock down that role.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: No update Thursday

Coach Shane Steichen told reporters Thursday that he has no update on Taylor, who officially remains on the active/PUP list due to an ankle issue, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

An ongoing contract dispute and recent trade request have led to speculation that Taylor is healthy enough to practice, though Steichen suggested Monday that the running back hasn't actually been cleared by the medical staff. Taylor hasn't said much publicly, other than denying a report from Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis that said the 24-year-old suffered a back injury while working out on his own and thus might be placed on the non-football injury list. It's a complicated situation with no clear solution in sight, and it's certainly possible a slower-than-hoped-for recovery from offseason ankle surgery remains a factor in Taylor's absence. The running back was present for Thursday's practice, watching from the sideline as he has for the past week-plus.

  • Colts' E.J. Speed: Remains sidelined

Speed (ankle) will not practice Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Speed left practice early Tuesday with the injury and is still not fully recovered. The 28-year-old set career highs in numerous categories last season, including tackles, while also recording his first NFL sack. He's expected to be the team's starting weak-side linebacker this season, so getting him healthy and on the field will be a priority for the Colts' defense.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Dominating first-team reps

Richardson is taking "practically all the first-team reps" at Thursday's practice, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.

After alternating days with Gardner Minshew at the start of training camp, Richardson has dominated first-team reps in consecutive practices (Tuesday/Thursday) since missing Monday's session to recover from a procedure on his nasal septum. While this doesn't mean he's the Week 1 starter, it can only help to get more work with the guys who will be blocking for him and catching his passes if the Colts decide to enter the season with the rookie under center.

  • Colts' Amari Rodgers: Picked up by Indianapolis

Rodgers agreed to terms with the Colts on Wednesday.

The 2021 third-round pick has found his third home in two years after being waived by both the Packers and Texans. Rodgers has tallied 20 receptions for 249 yards and one touchdown in his career, but he's mainly been a return man, as he's recorded 626 return yards. He's had issues holding onto the ball, fumbling eight times in just two years, but expect Indianapolis' newest receiver to compete for the kick and punt returner job ahead of the coming season.

  • Colts' Shaquille Leonard: Still making progress

Leonard (back) is continuing to ramp up his activity during training camp, although he still isn't participating in 11-on-11 team drills, James Boyd of the Atheltic reports.

Leonard continues to be brought along slowly after recovering from back surgery last year. Although he's cleared to compete, the Colts are taking a gradual route in adding to his workload during camp. He's moved beyond just individual workouts and is competing in seven-on-seven drills, but he's still being limited beyond that.
