  • Rams' Ben Skowronek: Back at practice Thursday

Skowronek (back) returned to practice Thursday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Skowronek has been banged up from the offseason program and into training camp, first dealing with a foot issue during mandatory minicamp in June before missing practice Tuesday due to a sore back. It's unclear how much activity he'll be able to handle Thursday, but the Rams may ease him back in with the regular season more than a month away.

  • Rams' Puka Nacua: Could earn No. 3 role

Nacua and Tutu Atwell are currently in competition for the No. 3 wide receiver role in the Rams' offense, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Nacua's status as a rookie hasn't stopped the Rams from giving him a large workload in spring OTAs and training camp. With Cooper Kupp (hamstring) likely sidelined for a few weeks, Nacua will likely have an expanded role in preseason games as he and the incumbent Atwell fight for the third receiver spot behind Kupp and Van Jefferson. While he can't compete with Atwell's blazing speed, Nacua's physical attributes and ability to run through the catch and break tackles make him an intriguing weapon for offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur if he were to win the role.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Competing for No. 3 role

Atwell and rookie Puka Nacua are currently in a competition for the No. 3 wide receiver role in the Rams' offense, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Although veteran Demarcus Robinson has played well in training camp and may have an outside shot of earning the tertiary spot in the wideout room, Atwell and Nacua are the most likely players to earn the role, but the Rams "ideally" would like Atwell to be their No. 3. Atwell can stretch the field with 4.35 speed but lacks size, and last year the speedster's appearance on the field generally meant a play-action deep shot towards him was incoming. In training camp, Atwell has been placed in a variety of roles in the offense and has worked on his blocking as well, giving him more flexibility than in 2022 and helping increase the odds he will earn a more permanent role in the Rams' offense behind starters Cooper Kupp (hamstring) and Van Jefferson.

  • Rams' Demarcus Robinson: Playing way into larger role

Robinson could be in for an expanded role after impressing early in training camp, Skyler Carlin of TheRamsWire reports.

Robinson and fellow veteran Tyler Johnson both signed with the Rams in the offseason, but Robinson has made the most headlines. The six-year vet has made most of his catches during practice and earned high praise from head coach Sean McVay, who said he's "really liked what I've seen so far from Demarcus." With Cooper Kupp (hamstring) and Ben Skowronek (back) both on the mend, Robinson should get an extended look during the preseason and may have worked himself into the mix for the No. 3 wideout spot between Tutu Atwell and rookie Puka Nacua.

  • Rams' Cooper Kupp: Could miss time in preseason

Kupp underwent an MRI on his hamstring after exiting Tuesday's practice and could be back for scrimmages "in a few weeks," Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The Rams are expected to be cautious with their top wideout for the rest of training camp and the preseason, but Schefter's report suggests Kupp will have a chance at being ready to go in advance of Week 1. While Kupp is sidelined, the likes of Van Jefferson, Ben Skowronek (back), Tutu Atwell, Puka Nacua and Demarcus Robinson are all likely to see added opportunities in practice.

  • Rams' Cooper Kupp: Nursing hamstring injury

Kupp walked off the field of Tuesday's practice with medical staff due to a hamstring injury, and the team has not provided a timetable for his return, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

The injury was sustained when Kupp came up short on a red-zone route, according to head coach Sean McVay. Look for the Rams to err on the side of caution with their star pass catcher going forward in order to ensure his health heading into the season and avoid a lingering issue. The 30-year-old entered camp as a full participant after logging only individual drills during the Rams' offseason program in mid-June while recovering from a high-ankle sprain that ended his 2022 season early.

  • Rams' Ben Skowronek: Held out of practice Tuesday

Skowronek (back) didn't practice Tuesday due to back soreness, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.

Skowronek managed a foot injury earlier in camp and is now dealing with a back issue. It's not yet clear how long the new injury will keep him out of practice. Skowronek is competing with a host of others for positioning behind Cooper Kupp (ankle) and Van Jefferson on an unsettled Rams wide receiver depth chart.

  • Rams' Cooper Kupp: Exits practice early

Kupp left Tuesday's practice early with the athletic training staff and did not return, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Kupp apparently came up short on a red zone route before exiting. Head coach Sean McVay had not been briefed by medical staff on the situation at the time of his press conference following practice. The 30-year-old wideout only logged individual drills at the tail end of the Rams' offseason program in mid-June while easing back into the swing of things following a right high-ankle sprain that brought his 2022 season to an early end. However, he was a full participant at the start of training camp, so it is unclear if Kupp's exit Tuesday has anything to do with his ankle or if it is a new issue.

  • Rams' Joe Noteboom: Competing for starting left tackle

Noteboom (Achilles) has been competing for the starting left tackle position throughout Rams camp, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Noteboom missed the entirety of the 2022 season with an Achilles injury but has since had the offseason to get past the issue. The veteran lineman signed a $40 million contract extension in 2022 that he's reworked to allow the Rams to save $9 million in cap space this year. He'll be competing with Alaric Jackson, who filled in for Noteboom the first half of last year before getting hurt himself. The Rams have been splitting reps evenly so far, but they'll soon have to decide between the guy they paid and the younger player ahead of the coming season.

  • Rams' Puka Nacua: Back to practice

Nacua returned to practice Saturday after suffering from cramping Thursday, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.

Nacua shined during a practice that took place Saturday and was open to fans. Jackson specifically notes a 30-yard, over-the-shoulder catch near the corner of the end zone. Selected in the fifth round of the 2023 Draft, Nacua has the opportunity to move pretty far up the Rams' positional depth chart with not a lot of clarity in the pecking order behind Cooper Kupp and Van Jefferson.

  • Rams' Matthew Stafford: Day off not injury-related

Stafford took a rest day Monday, but coach Sean McVay said after practice that the quarterback is healthy and that Stafford isn't expected to miss any more days of training camp, Eric Williams of Fox Sports reports.

Stafford's day off stemmed from a desire to get the quarterback on the same schedule as the regular season, when the goal will be for Stafford to throw four out of every seven days. After dealing with elbow soreness heading into last season and finishing the campaign on injured reserve due to a neck injury, Stafford is being deemed fully healthy heading into the 2023 campaign.
