Averett agreed to a one-year deal with the 49ers on Thursday.

The 2018 fourth-round pick out of Alabama has found a new home after spending the first five years of his career with Baltimore and Las Vegas. He ended last season on injured reserve with a toe injury, but in his seven games (six starts) with the Raiders, he recorded 13 tackles and one pass break up. • 49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Out with abductor strain

Mitchell suffered an adductor strain and is expected to be out for about a week, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Mitchell had enjoyed a healthy spring and summer up until Wednesday/Thursday, after missing more regular-season games (18) than he played (16) through his first two professional seasons. • 49ers' Brock Purdy: Feeling good, practicing Thursday

Quarterbacks coach Brian Griese said Thursday that Purdy has dealt with minimal soreness after throwing sessions, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Purdy Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com it's no different from the normal soreness a quarterback feels after a busy day of throwing passes. He's reportedly throwing about 110 times on the day he practices, with the 49ers scheduling numerous days off to make sure his surgically repaired elbow stays strong. Purdy was on a 'two days on, two days off' schedule through the first week and a half of training camp, but the routine seems to be changing given that he practiced Monday and Tuesday and now is back on the field for Thursday's practice after resting for only one day. Purdy has strictly worked with the first-team offense during camp, while Trey Lance and Sam Darnold have taken snaps with the starters and the backups.

  • 49ers' Jake Moody: Solid showing so far

Moody has been having a strong training camp, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

He's currently competing with Zane Gonzalez in camp, though considering Moody was taken in the third round of the 2023 Draft and his solid performance thus far, he likely has the inside track for the job.
