  • Panthers' Austin Corbett: Lands on PUP list

Corbett (knee) is set to start training camp on the Panthers' active/PUP list, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Corbett tore his ACL in the 2022 finale against the Saints. Earlier in the offseason, head coach Frank Reich told Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer that he expects Corbett to miss some games to start the season. The Panthers can turn to veterans Justin McCray and Michael Jordan to fill in at right guard while Corbett is out.

  • Panthers' Austin Corbett: Expected to miss game action

Panthers head coach Frank Reich said Monday that Corbett (knee) is expected to miss regular-season games, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Corbett suffered a torn ACL in last season's finale in early January, so his expected absence to begin the 2023 campaign doesn't come as a major surprise, even though the Panthers had indicated earlier this offseason that he was expected to be ready for Week 1. The 27-year-old is a likely candidate to open the season on the reserve/PUP list. Carolina has veterans Justin McCray and Michael Jordan as options to fill in at right guard for Corbett while he's out, and the Panthers also used a fourth-round pick on rookie Chandler Zavala.

  • Panthers' Austin Corbett: Restructures contract

The Panthers restructured Corbett's (knee) contract Friday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Corbett signed a three-year, $26.25 million deal with the Panthers last offseason and started all 17 of Carolina's contests before tearing his ACL in the regular-season finale. He's expected to be ready for the start of the 2023 campaign, per Steve Reed of the Associated Press, but that'd be a quick turnaround for the 2018 second-round pick. His new deal allows Carolina to clear some cap space before free agency begins in mid-March.
