Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Recovering from meniscus surgery
Toney's knee surgery Tuesday addressed a partially torn meniscus, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
The third-year pro suffered a non-contact knee injury while fielding punts prior to Sunday's practice. He reportedly had a minor procedure on the same knee this offseason, so the Tuesday operation may have addressed other cartilage issues in addition to the meniscus. Either way, it's less serious than most ligament injuries but nonetheless puts Toney's Week 1 availability into question and reduces his odds of becoming the new No. 1 wide receiver in Kansas City. Coach Andy Reid said Tuesday that there's still a chance Toney is ready for the regular-season opener Sept. 7 in Detroit.

Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Could be ready for Week 1
Toney underwent a procedure Tuesday to clean up some cartilage in his knee, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.
As for a timetable for Toney's recovery, coach Andy Reid noted that "there's a chance" he will be available for Week 1. "We'll just see. He's determined that he's going to be there," Reid added. The wideout is slated to have a key role in Kansas City's offense this coming season, but with him now set to miss some time, added training camp reps and preseason opportunities are available for the likes of Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore, Rashee Rice, Richie James, Justin Watson and Justyn Ross.
