  • Giants' Jarrad Davis: Out for season with knee injury

Davis suffered a season-ending knee injury during OTAs and was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Davis, a 2017 first-round pick, signed a one-year deal with the Giants this offseason and was expected to compete for a depth role at inside linebacker during training camp. The 26-year-old recorded 196 tackles and eight sacks over his first two NFL campaigns, but he's struggled to stay healthy and will have appeared in just 13 games over three seasons by the start of 2024.

The Giants placed Davis (undisclosed) on injured reserve Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Davis will be forced to miss the entire 2023 campaign unless he reaches an injury settlement with New York. The 2017 first-round pick signed a one-year deal with the Giants in March and was expected to compete for a depth role at inside linebacker during training camp.

  • Giants' Jarrad Davis: Stays put in New York

Davis re-signed with the Giants on Wednesday, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.

Davis was signed off the Lions' practice squad in late December and played in one regular season game for New York. In his four contests last season -- three of which came with Detroit -- Davis totaled 14 tackles (seven solo) and a pass breakups. He'll work to earn a regular role in the Giants' linebacker rotation in 2023.

  • Giants' Jarrad Davis: Takes on big role Week 18

Davis racked up 10 tackles (six solo), including a half-sack, in a loss to the Eagles on Sunday.

The Giants signed Davis off Detroit's practice squad at the end of December, and he saw his first action with New York as a result of the team resting most of its starters Sunday. The veteran made the most of the opportunity, tying for the team lead in stops and combining with Nick McCloud on a first-quarter sack of Jalen Hurts. It's uncertain how much New York plans to use Davis moving forward, but given his strong performance Week 18, it's possible he'll at least be active next weekend for the team's wild-card game against Minnesota.

  • Jarrad Davis: Departing Detroit once again

Davis was released by the Lions on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Davis spent the first four seasons of his career with Detroit, leading him to re-sign with the team this offseason after he recorded 25 tackles over nine games with the Jets last year. However, the 2021 first-round pick appears to have lost his spot at inside linebacker to rookie sixth-rounder Malcolm Rodriguez this preseason. Davis likely will rely on both his defensive and special-teams value when looking for a new landing spot heading into the regular season.

  • Lions' Jarrad Davis: Back with Detroit

Davis signed a one-year deal with the Lions on Friday, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.

Davis spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Lions before signing a one-year, $5.5 million contract with the Jets ahead of the 2021 campaign. However, he failed to live up to the deal, as an ankle injury sidelined him for the first six weeks of the season. Back with Detroit, he isn't guaranteed a significant defensive role, but Davis' past efforts have drawn the attention of head coach Dan Campbell, and he'll definitely have an opportunity to compete for a sizable role during training camp.
